Saluting the Past
It seems the other day but watch was created more than a decade ago. Like minded experts and institutions in the field of Oncology, Cardiology, Pulmonology and others came together to conceive and groom the first World Assembly on Tobacco Counters Health which was held from 4th-8th December 2000. The contribution of individuals & institutions are gratefully acknowledged as below in ink or the end in logos.
WHO: SEA, International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, World Heart Federation, Inter-American Society of Cardiology, International Network of Women Against Tobacco, Tobacco Control Commission for Africa, Anti Tobacco Council of Victoria, National Heart Foundation of Australia, the Chinese Association on Smoking and Health, the Russian Research Institute of Oncology, Asian Pacific Heart Network, Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, Spanish Cancer League, Instituto Portugues de Oncoligia, the European Society of Cardiology, Associacao Brasileira Comunitaria para a Prevencao do Abuso de Drogas and by the Sociedad Iberoamericana de Información Científica.

Wishing for Future

The conveners are trying to highlight role of Community in agriculture and industry; reduction in cultivation and consumption of crude tobacco as well as how to launch a comprehensive Media campaign. Downsizing environments that encourage smoking and optimizing smoking reduction / cessation policies with the help of National Health Services which would positively lead to a reduction in health hazard of smoking and passive smoking.
